“The key to physical vitality is a strong, flexible body. The key to mental vitality is a calm, quiet mind. Begin your day in a YOGA class designed with equal attention to both body and mind. Learn the art of becoming present with the breath and body to release blocks and resistances, while discovering the balance between comfort and steady alertness. Modification is at the core of my intentions, offering students stronger and gentler options throughout the classes so that each individual can truly cater to their own individual needs in a non-competitive environment.

A consistent practice will yield a cumulative result, impacting all arenas of life; physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. Plant the seed of positive habits through YOGA.” - Marcella

Marcella’s confidence and expertise shine through in her teaching. She is deeply committed to helping every student find their own potential. She uses relaxing music in the background of class to marcella pic1encourage relaxation without attracting attention to the music itself. Her classes are a cozy temperature, between 68-72 degrees.

Marcella began her yoga journey at Ananda in 1979 and explored many styles and classes. She followed her calling and obtained a Hatha Yoga Certification at the Sivinanada Yoga Vedanta Center in Grass Valley in 1993. Soon after, she discovered TKS Desikachar and was blessed to find her own teacher, Phyllis marcella pic2Honemann, a student of Desikachar. Phyllis was her teacher until her passing in 2008 and feels much gratitude to this beloved mentor who taught Marcella how to see. Marcella is a dedicated teacher and student for life.

Marcella has a few other jobs as mom of two daughters and also is an accomplished artist. You can view her wall murals at her web site.
