“The path of yoga connects us with our true essence of being. From my personal practice, I believe yoga trains the body in balanced actions to realize the qualities of an open heart and a quiet mind while preparing us to live our lives in personal strength and power. Yoga practice can bring healing and vitality to the body, quiet stillness to the mind and joy to the spirit! Please join me as we dance in the flow and celebrate your power to manifest intention as you travel the journey before you.”

Rick’s teaching style evolved from and is inspired by his practice of Anusara Yoga - combining hatha, jhana and bhakti practices into an elegant, unified system of yoga. He uses the Anusara universal principles of alignment to provide an optimal blueprint for each student, enabling the postures to unfold organically - honoring individual expression and integrity in each pose.

Rick takes an eclectic approach: beginning class with nada yoga/sound, opening the students to grace with the intention of moving through class from a place of love rather than fear. He encourages focused effort and deep attention during the practice, helping each student find their edge with integrity. He teaches in a moderately warm room, about 80 degrees and uses world music to inspire without distraction.

He is registered with the Yoga Alliance and continues to explore and learn as a student through intensives and workshops. He is grateful to work with the extended community of Anusara Certified Teachers including: Stacy Rosenberg, Kenneth Graham and Laura Christensen and expand on his knowledge of asana, pranayama, meditation and Tantric philosophy.
